about Angelita

Angelita Berdiales is a Peruvian pianist, educator, and arts administrator devoted to building meaningful musical experiences that connect listeners across cultures and generations. Her work is rooted in care for her audiences, students, and the communities she serves.

Angelita has performed internationally throughout Europe, the United States, and Peru, appearing at festivals in Italy, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Latin America. She is a two-time First Prize winner of the National Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition in Peru, as well as the winner of the Jillian Prescott Competition, which led to her debut with the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. She has been a finalist in the Osaka International Competition and a prizewinner in the Steinway Series Competition at University of South Florida.

Angelita is deeply committed to representation and inclusion, and her research and creative projects highlight music by women and underrepresented composers. She has presented at the National Conference of Keyboard Pedagogy (NCKP), Early Music America, and NCMTA conferences, as well as the MTNA Collegiate Symposium. She is co-creator of the award-winning project Honoring Hispanic Cultures through Music, which received an EDIA grant from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro College of Visual Arts& Performing Arts. She is also a recipient of the UNCG iBelong grant Voices of Latin America: From Timeless Roots to Classical Resonance.

Angelita is currently serving on the faculty of Guilford College and the Music Academy of North Carolina while completing her DMA in Piano Performance with a minor in Arts Administration at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her commitment to music education extends beyond the classroom as has served as a co-chair of the Greensboro Music Teachers Association (GMTA) Festival since 2024.

Her musical journey began at age eight at the National Conservatory of Music in Peru. She later earned her Bachelor of Music magna cum laude from Florida Gulf Coast University and her Master of Music from the University of South Florida. Her primary teachers have included Annie Jeng, Svetozar Ivanov, Michael Baron, and Carlota Bravo-Guerra.

Beyond music, Angelita finds inspiration in mindfulness practices, yoga, caring for her plants, and dancing to Latin music, all of which nourish the same joy and rhythm she brings to her artistry.
